I realized that there were days I had been in Tokyo that I had not visited some kind of Pokémon store and hadn’t yet fulfilled my sidequest of going to one store per day in Tokyo so I decided to squeeze in two more on my last day in Japan on my way to Narita Airport.
After getting off my Shinkansen in Tokyo Station I immediately found my way to the first Pokémon Store I had ever been to. It was fairly busy with tourists just arriving or about to be on their way home like myself. It was a little spaced out and my best guess was to accommodate the tourists touting baggage on their shoulders like myself to keep us from falling into the cute train themed displays. It had large displays of adorable train conductor pikachu plushes and exclusive Pokémon train tins to take back as souvenirs. The staff member who helped me at this store was especially bubbly and friendly, which was nice after feeling tired from a long train ride.
After much luggage hauling and elevator rides, I finally found myself at Narita Airport where I promptly checked my very, very, oversized luggage and began the mission to find my last stop, the Narita Airport Pokémon Center.
After a little bit of wandering, as most airports usually make you do, I found it marked with a blinding yellow Pikachu greeting me. The displays in this store were immensely cute, following an aviation theme. There were many similarly themed Pikachus available for purchase, and to my delight, quite a few more Pokémon cards available for purchase. At this location I let myself begrudgingly buy one last plush, a few stickers and the last cards I would have a chance to easily and cheaply buy for a while.
At the register the polite staff member let me know that I had hit my limit for a certain release of a pack for that day and I laughed and let him know that I would shortly be out of the country and unable to buy more anyway.
The plush I got there is one of my favorites, a super soft Umbreon. I was so grateful for the convenient location of these last two stores to be able to squeeze two in one day to make up for a missed one, all while still being able to catch a flight.
